“Dell’amore, della guerra e degli ultimi” è uno spettacolo musicale messo in scena da Stefano Fresi e Cristiana Polegri. Un susseguirsi di canzoni, pensieri tratti dai diari di Faber e monologhi originali che affrontano questi tre grandi temi cari al grande cantautore.

Una cantante sassofonista in abito da sera suggerisce l’amore; l’amore vero, quello finito, quello che fa fare follie. Un chitarrista in divisa militare racconta la guerra, quella di un Re e delle sue avventure galanti, quella di chi va e muore, quella di chi resta e piange. Un pianista cantante in abiti umili rappresenta gli ultimi, i dimenticati, gli emarginati con le loro sofferenze e le loro rivincite. Un pianoforte, un sassofono, una chitarra e due voci che raccontano storie, d’amore e di guerra, leggendo vere lettere dal fronte. Storie degli ultimi raccontate attraverso le parole di una prostituta o di una persona qualsiasi che abbia scelto di riconoscersi essere umano. Pensieri, riflessioni e canzoni immortali per celebrare Faber e raccontarne la meravigliosa attualità. Per me la magia di Faber è sempre stata quella di dipingere ritratti di personaggi diversissimi tra loro senza mai giudicarli – ci racconta Cristiana Polegri e aggiunge – quando ci si avvicina a questi giganti l’approccio può solo essere quello di omaggiare con umiltà e passione la loro grandezza. Musicalmente abbiamo pensato a degli arrangiamenti semplici nel rispetto della semplicità che contraddistingue un tipo di musica in cui il messaggio verbale è fondamentale.
“Of Love, War and the Last Ones” is a musical performance conceived and staged by Stefano Fresi and Cristiana Polegri. A sequence of songs, reflections drawn from Faber’s diaries, and original monologues explores three great themes that were central to the celebrated singer-songwriter’s work: love, war, and the marginalized.

A singer and saxophonist dressed in an evening gown evokes love: true love, lost love, the kind of love that drives people to madness. A guitarist in military uniform tells stories of war: the war of a King and his romantic adventures, the war of those who leave and die, and of those who remain behind to mourn. A singer-pianist dressed in humble clothing represents the last ones—the forgotten, the outcasts, the marginalized—through their suffering and their redemption. A piano, a saxophone, a guitar, and two voices tell stories of love and war, reading authentic letters from the front lines. Stories of the marginalized are recounted through the words of a prostitute or of an ordinary person who has chosen to recognize their own humanity. Thoughts, reflections, and immortal songs come together to celebrate Faber and highlight the extraordinary contemporary relevance of his message.
“For me, Faber’s magic has always been his ability to paint portraits of vastly different characters without ever judging them,” says Cristiana Polegri. “When approaching giants such as him, the only possible attitude is one of humility and passion in paying tribute to their greatness. Musically, we chose simple arrangements out of respect for the simplicity that characterizes a form of music in which the spoken and sung message is fundamental.”
